Prayer is a powerful way to connect with God and strengthen our relationships with others. This article provides examples of prayer for family and friends.
Prayer for family and friends is hard
Prayer is a powerful thing. It’s a direct line to God, and it can be used to ask for help with anything and everything.
When I wake up each morning to spend time with the Lord I often feel overwhelmed with the amount of things I want to pray for. There is a burden in my soul to pray for so many different needs. Why is it with all these needs I still have a hard time praying?
Sometimes when I sit to pray and I can only find words enough for a few sentences. Finally, some quiet time before the Lord and there are just no words!
This is hardly because there is not much to pray about. Instead its my need for guidance, inspiration or a simple reminder of exactly what to pray for.
Maybe my prayer life is lacking because I get up at the crack of dawn to find quiet time with the Lord before my family wakes up. Lets face it my mind just isn’t fully awake yet to think clearly. Or maybe it’s because I have such a hard time focusing. When there is a list of things to get done that day it is difficult to stay on track with prayers.
As the years have passed and after reading many books on prayer and listening to more experienced women of faith. I have learned quite a bit.
Choose today to pray for your family and friends
However, no matter what I have learned I still need some sort of list of things to pray about to help guide my prayers for the day.
It helps to have a quick list of topics and scripture written out for me beforehand. A list that I can glance at until I feel one particular topic tugging at my heart.
Once I choose a topic I then have a list of scripture to go along with it.
Next, I can insert the names of the family or friend I am praying for. This personalizes the start to my prayers which directs my thoughts and naturally starts that conversation I want to have with God.
Here I will list some topics that I find myself praying for regularly. I will briefly give some examples of the scripture I use to guide these prayers.
Enjoy, & may God bless you!
Prayer for Husband
Praying for my husband first never came naturally to me. I naturally would pray for our children first. It wasn’t until the realization of how central my husband is to our home life that this order changed.
Consequently if things aren’t going well in my husband’s life this effects our marriage and if our marriage is effected our children are too.
Therefore putting a hedge of prayer around your husband first is the first step in protecting your whole household.
Here are a few examples of scripture to pray for your husband.
Lead _______ to be a man of God. Cause _________ to pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, endurance and gentleness. 1 Timothy 6:11
In all of __________ relationships let him have the same mindset as Christ Jesus. Philippians 2:5
Make ____________ strong and courageous. Let him not be afraid or discouraged, cause him to believe that the Lord God will be with him wherever he goes .” Joshua 1:9
Prayer for Son
Praying for our sons in a world that is trying to drag them away from us and the Lord is our duty.

Prayer for Daughter
The love between a mother and daughter is unique and precious. Our daughters will one day grow to be women. Having the knowledge of what she will face as she grows into a woman gives an urgency to pray for her.
Thinking about my own journey in life I recognize many areas that I want to cover my daughter in prayer to the Lord.
Join me as we pray a blanket of the Lord’s blessing over them.
